REHABLITIATION SERVICES THROUGH GAMBAT INDEPENDENT LIVING CENTER-GILC

Introduction

The Life Changing Foundation (LCF), in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), established the Gambat Independent Living Center on December 1st, 2023. This center aims to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services to children with various disabilities in Northern Sindh, Pakistan. With a focus on physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and early childhood education, the center endeavors to enhance the quality of life for these children and empower them to lead fulfilling lives.

Mission

The mission of the Gambat Independent Living Center is to offer holistic rehabilitation services to children with disabilities, ensuring their physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. Through specialized therapies and educational interventions, the center seeks to maximize the potential of each child and promote their inclusion in society.

Services Offered:

Physiotherapy: Trained physiotherapists work closely with children to improve their mobility, strength, and coordination. Customized exercise programs and assistive devices are utilized to address individual needs and promote independence.
Occupational Therapy: Occupational therapists assist children in developing essential life skills and improving their ability to participate in daily activities. Therapy sessions focus on enhancing fine motor skills, sensory processing, and self-care abilities.
Speech Therapy: Speech-language pathologists assess and treat communication disorders in children, including speech and language delays, articulation difficulties, and stuttering. Therapy sessions aim to enhance communication skills and facilitate meaningful interaction with others.
Early Childhood Education: Qualified educators provide early intervention and educational support to children with disabilities. Through structured learning activities and play-based approaches, children are encouraged to explore their potential and develop foundational skills essential for future academic success.

Staffing

The Gambat Independent Living Center is staffed with a team of highly qualified professionals who are dedicated to serving children with disabilities. These professionals possess specialized training and expertise in their respective fields, ensuring the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services.

Impact

Since its establishment, the Gambat Independent Living Center has made a significant impact on the lives of children with disabilities in Northern Sindh. Although we have recently established but within this limited time of period total 148 children with different disabilities have been registered at centre from 80% of CWDs are getting regular services at facility, through targeted interventions and ongoing support, many children have experienced slight improvements in their physical abilities, communication skills, and overall independence. Moreover, the center’s efforts have contributed to raising awareness about disability rights and promoting inclusive practices within the community.

The Gambat Independent Living Center stands as a beacon of hope for children with disabilities, offering them the support and resources they need to thrive.
